25 ‘Misters’ from Pop Culture
There are few pop cultural motifs quite as cool as the moniker “Mr.”, which is a perfect conflation of classy, sleek, cultured and mysterious, with an air of authority and cold, calculating power. Whether or not you’re aware of it, many of your favorite characters were Misters, from Rogers to T to Spock, Bean and Potato Head.
We’re especially grateful to the folks at Gunaxin for including the Mr. Men series–a veritable living archive of famous misters–in their listicle of 25 ‘Misters from Pop Culture, but we’re surprised they left a few out, which we’ve included after the jump.
Mr. Deeds
Whether in the Gary Cooper original or the Adam Sandler remake, Deeds is a simple guy

Mr. Hyde (of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
An interesting reversal of the title’s civil implications, here turned into the beastly subconscious of a doctor.

Mr. Smith (of Mr. & Mrs. Smith)
Drastically different films, but again the implication is that the civil “Mister” is actually a crazed brute.
