11 Movie Dentists
Recently, as part of a series on the American dental industry, Slate looked at some of the most famous dentist characters throughout movie history. Evidently, Marathon Man and Little Shop of Horrors had to be included in the ensuing listicle of 11 Movie Dentists, but we were surprised to see some of our favorite oral surgeons omitted.
Steve Martin in Novocaine (2001)
Less famous than his Shop of Horrors dentist, but then again also faced with slightly more melodramatic moral issues.
Matthew Perry in The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and The Whole Ten Yards (2004)
Okay, so the sequel was a disaster, but he was a nice, bumbling idiot dentist to the cold, calculating precision of his cinematic colleagues–though, obviously, we’d never want to be his patient.
