We’ve long had a fantasy of renting (buying even, maybe, since it’s a fantasy) an old church and turning it into a really cool loft-type thing. We almost did it once, but then realized that we couldn’t change the three story-tall stained glass images of Jesus and company being killed/tortured/abused, because the church was a classified historical building. Too bad.

And we had such amazing plans for those stained glass windows. Or, rather, we were going to replace the previous occupants’ messiah with our own. Which is to say we had commissioned a friend to make stained glass windows of Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Cindy Sherman and a Rem Koolhaas building. Sadly, those all had to be scrapped (or recycled, rather). Now we live in a windowless cave and are reduced to enjoying the glass-work in Holytaco’s listicle of 25 Awesome Stained Glass Windows, like the squid-faced alien at right. We found a few other phenomenal stained glass windows, included after the jump, which we might consider if we ever find another church to buy.
