12 Terrible Lone Ranger Costumes
Clayton Moore, the actor who played the iconic TV Western superhero The Lone Ranger, would have been 95 today had he not died in 1999. In celebration of his work as one of the most American of the early superheroes (The Lone Ranger first appeared in 1933 as a radio program, then later as a TV show) we’ve dug up 12 Terrible Lone Ranger Costumes. Beyond our obvious fondness for costume listicles, The Lone Ranger is especially interesting for having a very, very simple costume: put a black mask with anything and you’ve got it! (Bonus points for bringing a Tonto or Silver along.)

A prodigious young Ranger with his Silver.

A slight departure from the Ranger’s blue shirt and white hat, but whatever.

The Ranger’s mask looks a little off.

Well, Lone Ranger’s shirt is the wrong color, as is Silver’s coat.

If we were having a Lone Ranger costume contest, we would now have our winner.

Weirdly, awesome. Much like…
