10 Fantastic Prefabricated Homes

Years ago we figured out that the only way we could hope to ever own a house – not a doll house, a real, big one we could live in – would be if we bought prefab. Some scoff at that sort of ready-made architecture, but we’re not put off by that prospect in the slightest. In fact, we’d take a cool, thoughtful prefab model over most of the houses we see being built these days. Since many of the designs are compact enough to be transported by flatbed truck, they also appeal to our desire for a small, manageable and efficient space.

Perusing WebUrbanist’s listicle of 10 Fantastic Prefabricated Homes, for instance, we really liked the look of the Zenkaya (pictured), a fully equipped and insulated modern living space that is delivered already assembled and is especially suited to remote locations. We thought of a few more prefab homes we could live in (we’ve had a bit of a prefab fantasy for a while now, to tell you the truth), and we’ve included them after the jump.
