8 Beautiful New Animated Music Videos
We kind of have a thing for animated music videos, in that we think they combine two of the most pleasurable cultural artifacts of our time: cartoons and pop music. Of course, they don’t always have to be poppy, colorful and optimistic, as you’ll appreciate while perusing the entries in this listicle of 8 Beautiful New Animated Music Videos.
“I’ll Kill Her” by Soko (directed by Joerg Barton)
We love songs (they’re usually by Bjork) with a gentle-sounding singer saying really aggressive things.
“The Early Sheets” by The Lost Levels (directed by Eyebath)
A chiptune video for a chiptune song. Nice.
“New Years” by Ohbijou (directed by Exploding Motor Car)
A little Michel Gondri-an with the surreal and purposefully low-tech stop-motion, no?
“Run for the Exit” by Boys First Time (directed by Pascal Cataye)
Not exactly our style of music, but damn if the hand-drawn animation ain’t beautiful.
“Animal” by Miike Snow (directed by Anthony Dickinson)
Deliriously retro in the best way.
“Two Weeks” by Grizzly Bear (directed by Gabe Askew)
You’ve probably seen it already, but isn’t it just the coolest?! Also, it’s not the official video, but was created by a fan and filmmaker.
“We Got Time” by Moray McLaren (directed by David Wilson)
Another low-tech approach used to dazzling effect.
“Dinner at a Sunrise” by Ilya Dolinin (directed by Space-Jump)
Russian papercraft dance music videos are our new favorite sub-genre.
