10 Kick-Ass Movie Preachers
What is it about pious religious peons in the movies? It’s as if these very inconspicuous figures from everyday life hit the big screen, and immediately become repositories of cool and vice. Often this includes being drunks, murderers, vigilantes and womanizers. Maybe this is compensation for the tough lives of real religious workers: in exchange for your dedication and purity, we’ll depict you as the crazy hedonists that you would never be (no matter how badly you want to). Our favorite father from Screen Junkies’ listicle of 10 Kick-Ass Movie Preachers would have to be Harvey Keitel’s Jacob Fuller in From Dusk ‘Till Dawn, although we thought of a couple notable omissions included after the jump.
Montgomery Clift as Friar Michael William Logan in Hitchcock’s I Confess (1953)
Jason Miller’s Father Karras from The Exorcist (1973)
