18 Things Shaped Like UFOs

Though we’ve had conflicting reports, at least one source claims that today is UFO Day (others say July 8, the date of the original Roswell, New Mexico sighting, others say July 2 for no specific reason). At any rate, since everybody is so vague on the whole unidentified flying object thing (something we’ve noted before), we figured this would be a good day for some UFO eduction (”Ufeducation”?). To help you know what to look for when you’re staring into the sky we suggest using these 18 Things Shaped Like UFOs as visual cues (with helpful descriptions of how they are similar to UFOs).

Eucharist

Dangerous and mysterious artifacts passed down from creatures of another world.

Tupperware

Can resist the deep freeze of space, often harbor unnatural and unknown growths. Invariably a little tacky.

Sundial

Incomprehensible and timeless.

Speakers

Powerful, technologically complex, the kind of thing some men will spend a fortune on.

Sand Dollars

They come from a mysterious world we don’t know that much about.

Milky Way Galaxy

Giant, mysterious, flying through space.

Make-Up Compact

Surprisingly expensive and easily concealed, they house things we don’t completely understand.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

Work best at extremely cool, outer-space temperatures, home-made ones are never quite as perfectly formed as the ones we find.

Hubcaps

Vehicular, potentially deadly and often expensive.

French Beret

Foreign, incomprehensible and yet, when deployed appropriately, totally cool and sexy.

Olympic Discus

Admitedly this is a giant discus at an Olympic park in Sydney, but it’s still a scale version of a discus and therefore accurate in its UFO likeness.

Curling Stone

In case you’re not familiar with curling and the above image makes no sense to you, curling stones are basically the sport’s equivalent of bowling balls.

Cookies

Dangerously tempting and loaded with sugar and butter.

Contact Lenses

Delicate yet powerful, elegant yet ephemeral.

Bowler Hat

Aerodynamic, a little retro and loaded with style.

Bedpan

Sleek, metallic, and possibly harboring horrible things.

Advair Diskus Unhaler

Nobody’s really sure how to use one, but damn it looks fancy and cool.

The Pump from Reebok Pumps

Really cool-looking, but we suspect they don’t actually do anything.
