We never really understood the Pokemon thing, nor did we feel particularly moved to try to wrap our heads around it (although one of our cousins once bought us a Pokemon Game Boy game that was totally awesome, thanks cuz). At any rate, now that that fad is over – or rather, has mutated into some new version of itself – Pokemon, like Pogs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before them, are ripe for postmodern play and parody.

This is how we get illustrator Jublin’s amazing Busted Up Pokemon project, which features images of some of those bizarre, mini-mythic creatures after an especially grueling battle. Our favorite of Jublin’s 27 Pokemons Post-Fight would have to be Charmander, who always seemed like the coolest of the little creatures, but now there he is (at right) crying like a castrated little woose.
