The World’s 10 Highest Paid Politicians
If you were outraged by the sums dolled out as bonuses to AIG and Merrill Lynch employees, then you’ll likely feel similarly offended by the annual salaries of some medium- to high-profile politicians. Like Brian Cowen (seen on T-shirts at right), the current Taoiseach (a fancy word for head of government) of Ireland, who makes some $341,000 annually. He probably also never has to pay for wiskey, which he undoubtedly drinks during and between every meal.
And he’s only fourth on Money Central’s listicle of The World’s 10 Highest Paid Politicians. Beyond not taking into account the daily freebies that most top-tier politicians get, the listicle doesn’t cover endorsement deals and merchandising revenue, which we’d love to hear about.
