7 Underthought, Overproduced Commercials
While we have nothing against lavish ads per se (truth be told, we enjoy pretty commercials as much as a terrific short film), it’s frustrating seeing millions of dollars worth of production values thrown behind a terrible (or absent) idea. Cracked has a rather terrific roundup of such ill-advised advertisements (though we disagree with the 1984 Apple ad appearing at number 1) with their listicle of 7 Underthought, Overproduced Commercials. Our favorite is this surrealist Dunlop ad from 1993 by Tony Kaye:
