7 Foods Banned in Europe Still Available in the U.S.
As you’re likely aware, America has an eating problem. Or, more accurately, lots of eating problems. More evidence of this comes to us today via TreeHugger, whose listicle of 7 Foods Banned in Europe Still Available in the U.S. outlines some disastrous food production practices that should be banned (or, better, un-invented). One we didn’t know about, but which has ruined chicken for us forever, is chlorinated chicken (seen at right). “Why would chicken carcasses be bathed in chlorine?” you ask? Well, because it’s the best way of getting rid of salmonela and ecoli in industrial food production. Of course, that means virtually every chicken eaten in America is packed full of yummy chlorine, which can’t possibly be a bad thing. Can it?
