Do you remember that episode of The Simpsons where Lisa has her future told at a country fair, and the whole show is about her impending marriage to an uptight Brit a dozen or so years in the future? Well, at one point they land in London (whose Big Ben clocktower is now digital), and comment on the pleasures of the newest airplane models, which they claim are “so much better than those wacky old designs.” The new plane they’re referring to looks something like the one above, which is featured in WebUrbanist’s listicle of 14 Fanciful Airplane Prototypes. Leave it to the Canadians, though, to take the weirdness cake with their flying saucer prototype, the Avrocar.
