7 Ridiculous Products Licensed by Major League Baseball
For a long time growing up, we had a Chicago Bulls trash can in our room. We didn’t live anywhere near Chicago, but Jordan had just come out of retirement, the Bulls had Pippen and Rodman and were generally unbeatable, and everybody everywhere was overdosing on the team’s merchandise. Then one day it dawned on us that putting all manner of refuse into a contraption sporting our favorite team’s logo might not actually be the best homage. A Bulls hamper or wine glasses would have been more appropriate. We still have the trash can, though our days of Bulls-worship are long gone.
However, our trashy Bulls tribute of yore pales in comparison to some of the merch peddled by teams these days. Just take a look at mental_floss’s listicle of 7 Ridiculous Products Licensed by Major League Baseball, our favorite of which is either the team gnome at right, or the equally creepy fellow after the jump.
The New York Mets Forest Face (yes, it is real)
