10 Natural Movie Bad Guys
A really good baddie is always so much better than a good good guy, you know? How unbearably boring was Luke Skywalker, for instance? And James Bond? Pretty much just a guy in a suit (no razor-edged hats or steel teeth). Really it’s the good guys who’ve got it bad, stuck playing second fiddle to infinitely more enjoyable and entertaining villains. This also explains the uncanny appeal of the “anti-hero”, who puts her/his evil badass-ness to the service of good (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sigourney Weaver and Vin Diesel have made millions off the anti-hero principle).
Because they so rarlely get their dues (the most recent exception being Heath Ledger’s Joker Oscar), Future of Classic has compiled a delightful listicle of 10 Natural Movie Bad Guys. We agree with their picks for the most part (any excuse to watch clips of Kathy Bates, Dennis Hopper or Gary Oldman, pictured at right), but we don’t think Hugo Weaving belongs. Find out who we’d sub in for the Aussie agent after the jump.
Ed Harris
He can play everything from crazy villains (Just Cause, The Rock, Leon, The Fifth Element), to creepy villains (A History of Violence, A Beautiful Mind) and even modernist abstract painter villains (Pollock).

The list is missing TIM CURRY! A master villain in IT, Legend, the bad creature in Fern Gully! Tarus Bulba from Darkwing Duck! Muppet Treasure Island, Congo, the Mask, and like every cartoon I watched as a kid. He’s the best.
