What 10 Movie Props Later Sold For

John Travolta and Karen Lynn Gorney, or Siskel and Ebert?
We remember obsessively checking Fox’s now-defunct auction website to see how much a seat from the X-Men’s airplane was going for. We’re not sure what price it ended up fetching, but our bid of $26.95 sure didn’t last long. Clearly, though, that was just small peanuts compared to the prices some folks pay for a chunk of their favorite film (we remember from an old episode of MTV Cribs that rapper Juvenile has the corner on the Scarface memorabilia market).
In order to help us trace the owners of props from film history, mental_floss has compiled a listicle of What 10 Movie Props Later Sold For. We especially like the story behind John Travolta’s white disco suit from Saturday Night Fever, which
was bought in 1978 for just $2,000 by a famous fan: movie critic Gene Siskel. Ebert asked him once if he ever wore it. Siskel confessed that it was too small, but he was just happy to own a piece of his favorite movie. Siskel later sold it for $145,000.
