10-Song Mixtape for Britney Spears

Can you believe it's been 10 years?!
As January 30th marked the 10th anniversary of Britney Spears’s “… Baby One More Time” reaching number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, n+1’s Emily Gould has compiled a 10 track mixtape of recommended second-wave feminist listening for the disaster-prone superstar.
The listicle is nice and all, but isn’t it awfully heavy on the folk-rock for an artist who was just as heavily influenced by rap, r&b and electronic dance music? What about Madonna’s “Express Yourself”, Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push It”, MC Lyte’s “Ruffneck” or Missy Elliott’s “Sock It 2 Me” with Da Brat? At any rate, there’s plenty of great listening on n+1’s 10-Song Mixtape for Britney Spears.
