10 Rock Albums Lil’ Wayne Needs to Hear

As you may have heard, hip hop’s reigning king, Lil’ Wayne, has announced that his next album – to be titled Rebirth – will feature only rock music. For many this is cause for concern, as the rap-rock hybrid is usually a dicey bet (see Mos Def’s Black Jack Johnson, Ice-T’s Body Count and the Jay-Z-Linkin Park collaboration Collision Course).

Hoping for the best, Complex has put together a list of suggested listening for Weezy, hoping to avert disaster by recommending that the New Orleans native check out some Doors, David Bowie (obviously), Bob Dylan and, yes, even some Body Count. We’re not sure why they didn’t include some early rock pioneers from Wayne’s hometown like Fats Domino or Little Richard (imagine Weezy covering “Tutti Frutti”!), but we still hope he checks out these 10 Rock Albums Lil’ Wayne Needs to Hear.
