Top 10 YouTube Videos of 2008

In the shuffle of year-end lists, one of our favorites was the Huffington Post’s listicle of the 10 best YouTube clips from 2008. Bridging comedy, politics, news and entertainment, most of its entries seem poised to outlast the typical two week half-life of conventional memes. One of the most entertaining and concise of year-capping time-preservers we’ve come across so far, here are our five favorites from amongst the Huffington Post’s Top 10 YouTube Videos of 2008.

Sarah Silverman is F***ing Matt Damon

We’ve long enjoyed making fun of Matt Damon, so we were especially satisfied to watch an entire googleplex of mockery spiral out of this late-night joke.

“You Can Vote However You Like” by Atlanta’s Ron Clark Academy

T.I. may have lost his crown to Lil Wayne in 2008, but his presence around election time was unrivaled in the rap world, mostly courtesy of this great reinterpretation of his track “Whatever You Like.”

Tom Cruise on Scientology

Possibly the only celebrity we enjoy mocking more than Matt Damon, Tom Cruise continued his onslaught of awkward sketchiness in 2008, most notably in this “for Scientologist eyes only” clip.

Star Wars as Told by a Three Year-Old

We especially appreciate her concluding advice: “Don’t talk back to Darth Vader, cause he’ll getcha.” Yes he will, random cute little girl, yes he will.

Bill O’Reilly “Doing it Live”

We’re really digging his energy.
