Creepy kid movie characters have some strange power over our collective imaginary. Maybe it’s the sudden realization that people we typically assume are cute and harmless might actually be vessels of unspeakable evil. Maybe they tap into some subconscious parenting gene in all of us, making us think: “If only I’d been raising him or her, s/he wouldn’t have turned out so creepy.” Whatever it is, creepy kids are incredibly more effective than creepy hitchhikers, creepy babysitters, creepy aliens or even their own creepy hotel caretaker parents:
