9 Memorable Pop Culture Eye Patches
Those all-seeing pop culture humorists over at NextRound.net draw our attention to an underused accessory in the canon of screen fashion: the eye patch. Though their listicle includes some vital entries (Angelina Jolie in Sky Captain, Kurt Russell in Escape From New York, Rob Lowe in Austin Powers 2, among others), some golden celebrity eye patches are sorely excluded. To rectify these omissions, the tireless fashion archivists in Listicles’ research team have composed this list of 9 Memorable Pop Culture Eye Patches.
9. Heidi Klum

Unbeknown to us inhabitants of North America, Heidi Klum rocked this lacy number on the German version of Next Top Model. We’re guessing she had a bad mascara accident on the flight over.
8. Robert Wagner as Number Two in Austin Powers

Before Rob Lowe played young Number Two, Robert Wagner introduced a smiling elderly businessman with an appropriately subservient demeanor and handsome patch.
7. John Ford

As one of the original Hollywood heavyweights, John Ford’s career gradually began to deal in heavier subjects, he drank more heavily, and began sporting this classic patch (amazingly, his eye for composition only improved).
6. Slick Rick

As far as we know, this early rap innovator (actually a British national) has always sported some kind of suave eye patch.
5. Dennis Hopper in Waterworld

Since he seems incapable of turning down any offer from anyone, Hopper is responsible for some of our favorite (Blue Velvet) and most despised (Hell Ride) characters. His post-apocalyptic patch-wearing baddie in Waterworld was the motor that kept the film going (it must have been the patch).
4. Nadine on Twin Peaks

Oddball as this character was, we feel much more could have been made of her back-to-high school plot. That said, her patch was a great reminder of her nuttiness at her most deceptively normal moments.
3. James Joyce

Handsome devil that this pilar of modern English literature was, his look never really came together until he incorporated the eye patch.
2. David Bowie

Taking the opposite approach of piling on the fashion oddities, Bowie took his spacy look to the next galaxy with the eye patch addition.
1. Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld
On a show quietly obsessed with pirate fashion (remember the pirate shirt episode?), it would have to be Michael Richard’s Kramer who finally walked the plank and donned a patch.
Did we miss any? Let us know below.

You missed one of the best eye patch wearing babes. In Kill Bill-Daryl Hannah played Ell Driver. That had to be one of the sexiest eye patch wearers.
