The 8 Best Recurring Arrested Development Jokes

With recent news that the Arrested Development movie is really happening, we dedicated and delighted fans pass along this list from Unreality: The 8 Best Recurring Arrested Development Jokes. Hitting most of the repeat-viewer-rewarding high-notes, Unreality blogger Sub-Zero still makes some questionable picks:

6. Gob’s “Final Countdown” opening

Shouldn’t this be around number 2? There’s not much on this show funnier than Gob prancing to Swedish Glam Rock in front of a non-responsive audience about to be underwhelmed by his magic tricks (I’m sorry, illusions). More thoughts, and some missing items, after the jump.

1. The Chicken Dance

This pick for number one is right on the money. It didn’t come up all that often, but it never got much better than when the Bluths busted into their broken interpretation of a chicken dance. Part of the show’s magic, though, is that frequent repitition amplified a joke’s impact, rather than wearing it down. Among the few jokes missing from the list that come to mind, a couple were used so often and casually that they have completely entered our (my) everyday lexicon:

Her? Really?

Michael’s disbelief at his son’s relationship with Ann Veal, so oft repeated, made this short syntactical snip so adaptable that the entire cast was asking “really?” by the final season. Yet somehow this wasn’t in the Top 8? Really? In this episode, the Bluths meet the Veals and let fly with their questions:

Come On!

This didn’t make the list? Really? Come on! Another Gob trope turned the previously plaintive phrase “come on” into an order to be barked loudly and angrily in the most unnecessary interactions:

Now you’d better make sure these appear plentifully in the movie, Mitchell Hurwitz, come on!
