2 Bad Actors, 15 Acting Challenges

In a strange moment of list community synergy, our friends at NextRound.net and io9.com both published lists today lampooning the strained efforts of a leading blockbuster buff. The former offers five touchstone moments in Keanu Reeves and the Lost Art of Bad Acting, while the latter chronicles Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 10 Greatest Acting Challenges.

Despite similar themes, the two offer different approaches: Keanu’s challenges are mostly in the delivery of emotions (like “shooting a gun in the air while screaming” in Point Blank), where Arnold’s are predominantly physical (as in the challenge of being covered in mud in Predator). Some highlights:

Keanu Reeves, faced with The Matrix, says “Whoa”

Arnold Schwartzenegger, covered in blue goo for Batman and Robin, revels in icy punditry

Evidently, these are storied bad actors with long resumés and too many viable entries for such short chronicles of their expressive lows, but what about these two absences:

Keanu breaks River Phoenix’s heart without batting an eyelid in My Own Private Idaho

Arnold dressed up as a toy superhero in Jingle All the Way
